Past Students

 

Irena Meletiou (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1990 – 1995)  

She received formal dance training at Alvin Ailey, Ballet Arts and Broadway Dance Center. She now lives in New York where she works as a dancer and teacher of dance and Zumba.

 

 


Christina Sorokou (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1990 – 1995)  

She studied Dance and Pschycology in the United States. She taught modern jazz, ballet and contemporary dance at Motion Art Studio for two years.

 

 


Charis Mavromichalis (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1991 – 1994)  

Harry studied modern dance in Denmark and then continued his studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York. In 2000 he founded his modern dance company, Dance Anonymous. In 2001, he created the Annual Summer Intensive Dance Program, ‘Taste of New York’ (www.tonycyprus.com ), that takes place in Cyprus and brings Master dance teachers from New York, for a two week intensive dance training in different techniques.

 


  Elena Samara (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1990 – 2000)  

She studied Musical Theatre at the Doreen Bird College Of Performing Arts (First Class Degree), in London, then worked in Euro Disney in Paris for one season. She is now running her own dance school in Nicosia.

 

 


Marina Poyiatzi (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1997 – 2000)  

She studied at the “Rallou Manou” Senior Professional School of Dance, in Athens. In 2006, she graduated with the Diploma of Dance Teacher and Dancer and is now.

 

 


Rania Charalambidou (years at the Motion Art Studio: 2001)  

She studied dance in the United States and is now dancing professionally in ballet companies in the U.S.A.

 

 


Penelope Georghiadou (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1991 – 2003)  

She studied at the “Rallou Manou” Senior Professional School of Dance, in Athens. In 2006, she graduated with the Diploma of Dance Teacher and Dancer. Since 2008, she is teaching at the Motion Art Studio. In 2003, she was awarded the 2nd Prize at the “Eurovision for Young Dancers’’ contest and won a Ministry of Education and Culture grant to attend the New York Dance Experience.

 

 


Angelica Georghiadou (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1990 – 2004)  

She studied at the Laban Centre in London and is now working as a Pilates instructor.

 

 


Evita Elia (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1992 – 2003)  

She studied at the “State School of Dance” in Athens. She graduated with the Diploma of Dance Teacher and Dancer.

 

 


Anastasia Paschali (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1991 – 2004)  
In 2004 she attended the summer program of the Rock School for Dance Education in Pennsylvania on full scholarship. She then continued to attend the professional year-round program there, again on full scholarship. In the summer of 2005 she was in New York, attending American Ballet Theater’s summer program. She competed in the 2005 Genee Awards in London. She was offered a full scholarship as a third year student at English National Ballet School in London. She was chosen to work with the English National Ballet company in their performances of Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. In February 2006 she signed her first contract with The Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen after being selected from an audition of over 100 dancers. She became the youngest member of this world-renowned company.

Theano Makariou (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1991 – 2004)  

She studied Musical Theatre with full scholarship at Doreen Bird College Of Performing Arts (First Class Degree) in London. During her studies she took part in the Musical ''The Life'' by Cy Coleman in the part of Chichi. She also took part in the show ''Fascinating Rhythms'' and Who could ask for anything more'' as a soloist dancer and singer. Professional jobs so far: ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'' (Directed by Bill Kenwright), NO1 UK Tour, ''Wicked'' German Cast in Stuttgart and premier in Oberhausen in February 2010 in the role of Ensemble and Melena (Mother of the Witch).


Mary Kasapi (years at the Motion Art Studio: 1999 – 2005)  

She studied dance at the University of Wolverhampton in England and received her BA (Hons) in Dance Practice and Performance and now she is studing for her Master, MSc Dance Science.
